Testing out Ghost
They're fully grown now, but still!

I've been testing out self-hosting Ghost to see how it works out. Partly because Substack takes 10% fees on top of Stripe's 2.9%. Partly because Substack apparently has some problematic history. And finally, partly because if I'm successful in hosting Ghost, I can host it for other people, too.

In fact, LordMcCoveyCove and UnitedTrek are both current 'customers', the second one of which I successfully changed the URL entirely for. I'm debating on whether or not it's possible for me to make Ghost blogs under subdomains, but that strikes me as something that might be a little more difficult. (Though when it comes to servers and software, I apparently quite like hitting above my weight class.)

But anyway, if you're interested in a blog (or newsletter), I might just be able to set you up one cheap. Let's say $3 a month if you're one of the people donating to keep the lights on for one of the archives or via Boldly Writing, or $5 if you're not. Which would be roughly $36 per year for 'members' and $60 per year for 'non-members'. Either way, you have to be a member of fandom. But considering we don't take any fees past the hosting whatsoever, and you can connect Stripe, and we're self-hosted, and you're getting a total bargain (Ghost official starts at $9 a month), it's something to keep in mind.

In the meantime, this post here is mostly just me testing out Ghost's mailing features, as I was finally able to get mailgun to let me sign up. But if you want to come talk to me, feel free!
